John Thomson
An award-winning actor, writer, comedian and presenter, John has been at the forefront of British television, film and theatre for over 3 decades.
John began his career voicing the puppets on the satirical SPITTING IMAGE. After winning the Perrier award in 1992 with Steve Coogan, John went on to work and write with Steve in the popular PAUL CALF VIDEO DIARIES (BAFTA Winner) and has starred in many TV productions including MEN BEHAVING BADLY, CORONATION STREET, WATERLOO ROAD and NEW STREET LAW (RTS nominated for best actor). Also who can forget the iconic THE FAST SHOW for BBC2. Nice! However, John is properly best remembered for his role as Pete Gifford in the multi-award-winning COLD FEET for ITV.
John has starred in numerous film credits including WALLACE AND GROMIT: CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT, 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE and GRIMSBY. John is a renowned vocal artist and has voiced a range of shows and films, including DOG LOVES BOOKS for CBBC, POLICE INTERCEPTORS as well as BARGIN LOVING BRITS IN THE SUN and BARGIAN LOVING BRITS BY THE SEA.
He has also been a staple of Light Entertainment appearing in ZONE OF CHAMPIONS, THE KEITH LEMON SKETCH SHOW, THE KEITH AND PADDY FILM SHOW, MASTERCHEF and who can forget his fantastic performance as Bush Baby in THE MASKED SINGER.
John occasionally still dabbles in the dark art of stand-up comedy, selling out venues across the country. He is also a professional drummer in his free time can be found playing his Gretsch and Roland V drums, as seen on GARETH MALONES ALL STAR MUSIC QUIZ.
In October 2013, John received a “Legend of Industry” award from the Variety Club of Great Britain for his contributions to Comedy, Film, Television and Theatre.
